Presenter Bio
Rhys Evans is the director of Central Coast Coffee Roasters and the official Australian distributor for ROEST coffee roasting equipment. With a background in technology and entrepreneurship, Rhys founded Phaser Computers in 2012 and Phaser FPV in 2014, growing the business into one of Australia’s leading suppliers of FPV drones, 3D printing, and advanced electronics.
His connection to coffee runs deep. Rhys’ father, Graeme Evans, established Central Coast Coffee Roasters in 2012 as an early adopter of specialty coffee roasting in Australia. Rhys was actively involved in the business from 2016–17 before formally taking the helm in 2024 alongside his wife, Katrina. Together they have expanded the company with a strong focus on filter coffee, offering a rotating menu of more than 50 single-origin coffees roasted on ROEST 200g sample roasters.
The Evans family has worked with ROEST equipment for many years, with Graeme among the first Australian users of the ROEST L100 Plus. Today, Central Coast Coffee operates multiple ROEST sample roasters and was one of the first in the country to install the ROEST P3000 3kg production roaster. Since commissioning the P3000 in late 2025, the team has completed hundreds of production roasts while continually refining workflows for consistency, repeatability, and quality.
Rhys brings a distinctive perspective that blends technical expertise from his technology ventures with hands-on roasting experience and a practical, data-driven approach to modern coffee production.
