Presenter Bio
Michel Brode has been head roaster at Aero Coffee Roasters since the fall of 2020 and has been roasting coffee since 2009, including owning his own roastery and working with both larger and smaller specialty coffee roasteries.
Michel won silver in the 2016 Swedish roasting competition and served as an international judge for the Força Café competitive auctions in 2021 and 2022, highlighting smaller Brazilian farms. He has also led tastings and presentations at the New England Coffee Festival.
Michel has worked closely with JNP Coffee’s Burundi and Rwanda coffees and brings firsthand experience in how origin, altitude, processing, and roasting influence their flavor and cup profiles.
Before entering coffee, Michel trained as a chef in France and spent many years working in restaurants, catering, and cafés in Europe and the United States. He sees roasting as a craft that combines science and technique with art and intuition. He enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with others and strives to have a positive impact through his work.
